In case you missed it — here’s one of the surprises we uncovered while breathing new life into the old girl! Just a few short months ago, during the early stages of renovations, we discovered a 19th-century cistern tucked beneath the old Emu Bar — a little piece of history that had been hiding in plain sight. As one of the original to-let advertisements from 1855 described: “A water tank, in excellent repair capable of holding many hundred gallons of water,”
…which likely refers to this very structure. Sure, most renos turn up some old wiring or a forgotten sock… but at the GV, it’s a heritage-listed water tank. Naturally 💁🏽‍♀️ Talk about depth of character! Best of all? This beauty will be proudly on show as part of the new-look GV — re-opening mid-2025. #GrandViewHotel #RedlandsCoast #Renovations #Cleveland #Heritage
